Project Laut offers three specialised SSI Instructor Internship programs in Nusa Penida, Bali, tailored to your time availability and desired specialisation. Our extensive internships provide an ideal launchpad for a new career in the diving industry or marine conservation. Prerequisites

To enroll in this course, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Have the ability to swim 200 meters unaided and tread water for 10 minutes
  • Be in good physical health. Individuals with known medical conditions may require written approval from a dive medic
  • Hold certifications as an Open Water Diver for at least six months, as well as Divemaster (Active Status) and Enriched Air Nitrox certifications
  • Possess valid First Aid (SSI React Right or Equivalent) and Oxygen Provider certifications

Fast Track to Teach
Instructor Training Course Schedule

Day 1-4

Complete the Assistant Instructor course to learn how to teach and demonstrate scuba skills in confined water and conduct academic sessions and presentations in the classroom. This training covers programs such as Try Scuba, Perfect Buoyancy, and the Open Water course.

Day 5-10

Develop your teaching skills for conducting courses in open water, including the Open Water course, Advanced Adventurer, Diver Stress and Rescue, and Enriched Air Nitrox.

Day 11-12

Complete your final preparations for the Instructor Evaluation by finalizing your academic presentations, refining your in-water skills, and addressing any areas you may have missed or need to repeat.

Day 13-14

Participate in the Instructor Evaluation conducted by SSI that includes the following components: Evaluation of your academic presentations, assessment of your in-water skills & a written exam testing your knowledge of standards & dive theory

Week 1-2

Our unique buoyancy workshops focus on developing in-water skills through repetitive practice to build good muscle memory and achieve maximum efficiency. We expect our professional-level candidates to apply these methods when conducting skills during their Instructor Course.

Week 3-4 ITC

Complete your SSI Instructor Training Course according to the “Fast Track to Teach” schedule outlined in the ITC Course Schedule.

Week 5-6

Gain hands-on conservation experience by joining our research team, where you’ll learn conservation techniques from our marine biologists and work on our restoration site.

Week 7-8

Complete your Speciality Instructor certifications in Marine Ecology, Sea Turtle Ecology, Manta & Ray Ecology, Shark Ecology, and Coral Identification while continuing to participate in our Research Team’s conservation efforts.

Week 1-2

Focus on advanced in-water skills. Complete your SSI Decompression and SSI Wreck Diving course during a trip to the USAT Liberty in Tulamben, Bali.

Week 7-8

Enhance your technical skills by completing your SSI Sidemount Diving course, followed by gaining teaching practice and earning your Specialty Instructor certifications in Deep Diving.
