Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before joining your SSI Instructor Training Course in Nusa Penida, Bali.

No. You do not need to hold an SSI Divemaster certification. Active Divemasters from PADI and other recognised training agencies can enter the SSI Dive Instructor in Bali.

Accommodation is not included in the course price. There are many homestays and bungalows close to Project Laut, and we can recommend nearby options that offer direct rates to our candidates.

Dive professionals are expected to have their own equipment. We strongly recommend arriving with a full personal set, including a mask, fins, BC, regulator, dive computer and wetsuit if needed. Rental equipment is available if required, but professional candidates should ideally train with the equipment they intend to use once they begin working.

You need 100 logged dives before the Instructor Evaluation. If you have fewer than 100 when the ITC begins, contact us before applying so we can confirm whether you can meet the requirement during your chosen intake.

The advertised price covers the complete 14-day Instructor Training Course, 2-day Instructor Evaluation, IE fees, SSI digital learning materials and 5 days of teaching shadowing. There are no mandatory training add-ons added later.

Allow approximately three weeks for the full program: 14 days of Instructor Training, the 2-day Instructor Evaluation and 5 days of teaching shadowing after the IE.

After your IE, you’ll spend five days shadowing Project Laut courses alongside experienced instructors. This gives you the opportunity to observe real student briefings, skill sessions, course organisation and student management before teaching independently.

Speak with our Instructor Trainer before booking. We can review your current certification, dive experience and training history and confirm what, if anything, you still need before joining an ITC.

Yes. You can choose one of our longer pathways combining the complete ITC with additional professional instructor development, marine ecology training or technical-diving development.
